Tar Heel fans are going to be very intrigued with the first player from the Class of 2028 who has earned an offer from North Carolina.

The trio of Michael Malone, Chuck Martin and Pat Sullivan kicked off the live period weekend by attending the Adidas 3SSB event in Mishakawa, Indiana. It didn't take long for them to find a prospect who they absolutely would love to bring to Chapel Hill.

Michael Malone extends his first Class of 2028 offer

It only took one game for UNC to identify 7-footer Yann Kamagate as a recruiting target for the UNC basketball program. Following his 16-point, 19 rebound outing, the Tar Heels quickly extended an offer Kamagate's way.

Mind you, he is currently a 2028 prospect, meaning... he's only a sophomore! Listed at 7-foot-1, 230-pounds, this is simply a massive presence, one that would look awesome in Carolina Blue once he makes his way to the college ranks.

To no surprise, North Carolina isn't the only program to take notice of how good this guy is. Since Thursday, UNC, Kansas, Baylor and UCLA have all extended offers, adding to his initial offer lists which include USC, Houston, Texas A&M, Arizona and Creighton. It's pretty safe to say that more offers are heading his way, as he has the makings of being the highest-rising prospect that the Class of 2028 currently has to offer.

Here's what Eric Bossi of 247Sports had to say about Kamagate after watching him compete last month:

"Pushing seven-feet with long arms and a wiry strong frame built to carry more mass, Kamagate puts the elite in elite athlete. He makes his way from rim to rim like a track athlete, is a lob finishing machine and only knows how to play the game all out. He didn't have a great game during his debut in front of 247Sports, but his talent and upside were glaringly obvious during a 12 point and nine rebound effort.  Currently unranked, he'll be accounted for when we next update the 2028 rankings and there's a good chance he will enter as a five-star prospect."

While the trio of coaches are in Indiana, Sean May made the trip to Memphis for the EYBL event, as he is tasked with scouting some of UNC's recruiting targets competing this weekend. The focus will be on guys the program is already pursuing, but the staff will be very attentive as they aim to identify some other recruiting targets who might fit well in Chapel Hill.

Yann Kamagate is one of those prospects, as he clearly opened the eyes of Michael Malone and his staff with his dominant performance. He's certainly a recruiting target to keep an eye on, and don't be surprised if he becomes one of the most coveted players that the Class of 2028 has to offer.
