It's no secret that Michael Malone and the UNC basketball program are putting a heavy emphasis on finding a lead guard to headline their 2027 recruiting class.
With Terrence Brown having just one season of eligibility remaining, the Tar Heels already know that they will have at least one void to fill in the backcourt next offseason. They have expressed interest and extended offers to multiple guards in this class, but one guard that has been poking around a bit is NaVorro Bowman Jr.
One of the top-ranked players in his graduating class, Bowman Jr. has been active on social media, commenting on posts from other high school athletes who have earned offers from the Tar Heels. Was this him just hyping up some guys he's either played with or competed against, or was he searching for an offer from UNC on his own all along?
Well, we don't know the exact answer to that question just yet, but the part where he earned an offer from the Tar Heels did come along for the rising senior.
NaVorro Bowman Jr. earns an offer from Michael Malone and UNC
Bowman Jr., one of the top point guards in the country, has been extended an offer from Michael Malone and North Carolina. He confirmed the offer on his Instagram page, sharing an image of the Tar Heel logo on his story.
Currently, Rivals Industry Composite has him tabbed as the No. 12 overall prospect in this class. The 6-foot-3 guard is also ranked as the fifth-best guard in this class and the third-best prospect coming out of the state of California.
The son of former four-time NFL All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler NaVorro Bowman didn't follow his father's path to the gridiron but found his own journey on the basketball court. He has proven to be an elite scoring guard, averaging 22.5 points during his junior season at Notre Dame, a year in which he earned first team all-state honors.

Even while playing with the country's best on Team USA, Bowman was one of the most productive scorers on the goal-medal winning national team at the U17 World Cup, averaging 11.9 points and 3.9 assists during the team's run to the title. He's followed it up on the EYBL circuit by being the fourth-leading scorer among 17U qualifers, averaging 20.9 points for Team Why Not.
North Carolina will have to catch up a bit in his recruitment, given that he's already scheduled four official visits to UConn, Illinois, Texas, and Arizona. The hope is that the Tar Heels have enough time to not only jump into the mix but become major players in his recruitment, as Malone and his staff believe he would be a great fit in Chapel Hill once he takes his talents to the collegiate level.
It felt like an offer to Bowman Jr. was a matter of when, not if, it would come from the Tar Heels. Now, the offer is on the table, officially putting North Carolina in the chase to land one of the top-ranked players that the Class of 2027 has to offer.
