One of the summer's biggest risers is now on Michael Malone & UNC's radar

It's been quite the summer for Class of 2028 point guard Brady Pettigrew.

The rising junior has impressed on the EYBL circuit while playing for Brad Beal Elite. Pettigrew, a 6-foot-3, 170-pounder from Lisle, Illinois, saved his best summer moments for Peach Jam, the biggest stage that AAU basketball has to offer, showcasing his elite skillset and clutch genes while competing in front of coaches from all across the country.

For his efforts at Peach Jam, Pettigrew was named the first-ever EYBL 16U MVP, which shows how good he was throughout the tournament. Of course, when you dominate on one of the sport's biggest stages, you're going to earn even more attention from elite college programs, as his performance earned him a pair of offers from Blue Blood schools.

One of those offers came from Michael Malone and the UNC basketball program.

Late on Wednesday night, Pettigrew announced on social media that he has received an offer from the Tar Heels. This comes just a day after he added an offer from Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats.

Pettigrew is currently a four-star recruit in the Class of 2028, but it's very likely that he'll be considered a five-star player by the time this recruiting cycle comes to an end. Rivals Industry has him ranked as the No. 17 overall player in this class, including the second-highest ranked point guard. He also is considered the top prospect coming out of the state of Illinois.

If you want a good understanding of what Pettigrew brings to the table, just hear what his high school coach, Rob Brost, had to say about his star point guard:

"What sets him apart is his work ethic, that's his No. 1 thing. Obviously he's an elite athlete but he works tremendously hard individually and at practice as well. Those are things that set him apart from the normal really good player. When  you have a player of that caliber and he has the work ethic to follow, it's a recipe for a really elite player."

Sometimes, all it takes is to see a player compete in live action, which is what Malone and his staff were able to do at Peach Jam. With the way he performed throughout the event, don't be surprised to see a ton of big-time offers start rolling his way, as his recruitment is simply on the verge of rising to a whole new level.

There's no doubt that Brady Pettigrew has placed himself in the conversation among the top 2028 prospects that this class has to offer. Now, you can officially put Michael Malone and the Tar Heels in the mix, as they now have a point guard target they believe could be part of the future plans in Chapel Hill.

If all goes well, this talented point guard could be wearing Carolina Blue in the near future.
