Not every prospect starts off with a five-star ranking, but there are quite a few who make a significant rise in the rankings before they are all said and done.

Asa Montgomery is one of the Class of 2027's highest-rising prospects, quickly earning the attention of many notable college programs. He has drawn a crowd of college coaches at Peach Jam and hasn't disappointed one bit, continuing to add to his already rapidly rising stock.

On Friday morning, Montgomery, a Powder Springs, Georgia native, drew over a dozen coaches to watch him compete. The 6-foot-7 forward went off, scoring 27 points while collecting five rebounds, a performance that proved to one program that they need to extend an offer his way immediately.

That offer came shortly after his game concluded, and it came from Michael Malone and the UNC basketball program.

Montgomery shared the news of his latest offer on social media, showing just how impressed the Tar Heels' coaching staff had to be with his performance earlier in the day. Of course, UNC has been keeping close tabs on the rising senior but didn't feel the need to extend an offer just yet, but that has quickly changed.

Based on how his recruitment is heating up, don't be surprised to see more offers come rolling in over the upcoming weeks.

Prior to his offer from North Carolina, Montgomery had earned offers from Alabama, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Houston, and Auburn. With this particular recruitment, keep an eye on these programs, who were on-hand on Friday morning and could be extending an offer of their own to Montgomery in the near future:

Duke
Kentucky
UConn
Arizona
Michigan State
Louisville
LSU
Florida
Providence
Rutgers
Xavier

Currently, Montgomery's rankings within the Class of 2027 vary slightly. While he's considered a consensus top-50 prospect, the three major recruiting sites have different opinions of where he should rank:

Rivals: No. 15
ESPN: No. 29
247Sports: 43

Regardless, by the time the final rankings for this class come in, you could expect that Montgomery will rise up the recruiting boards. In fact, his fast-rising stock has him trending toward not only earning a five-star rating, but placing him among the top 20 players this graduating class has to offer.

As his stock continues to rise, the competition to land his services will just continue to heat up.

UNC and Michael Malone are all-in for a 5-star target who’s feeling the love

Michael Malone and the Tar Heels haven't been shy on the recruiting trail, making a strong push for some of the top prospects this recruiting class has to offer. While you can't get every prospect, Malone and UNC are strategically focusing on the guys they covet the most, as Montgomery might just fit into that category now that they have officially extended him an offer.

The competition to land Montgomery will be steep, but North Carolina has proven it will do everything it can to convince him to call Chapel Hill his future home.
