Michael Malone and the Tar Heels are exploring all angles to add some additional frontcourt depth for the 2026-2027 season.
You can add another player to the list of potential options for UNC, as Tobias Bass of The Athletic revealed that there's been at least some dialogue with this transfer portal big man.
UNC has had discussions with Robert Morris transfer Josh Hill
According to Bass' report, UNC has recently held a Zoom meeting with Robert Morris big man Josh Hill.

A 6-foot-11 forward, Hill started his college basketball career at Arkansas State. He transferred to Robert Morris ahead of his sophomore season, earning a much bigger role with the Colonials.
Mostly as a reserve, Hill appeared in 22 games during the 2025-2026 season. He averaged 7.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, shooting 45.5% from the field. He did make six starts for a Robert Morris squad that finished the season with a 22-11 record, which was good enough for second place in the Horizon League.
North Carolina has made its "big splashes" of the offseason, and now is simply looking for some depth pieces that can come in and contribute right away. Most of that focus comes in the front court, an area that the Tar Heels would like to bolster before the roster is finalized, as you can understand why Hill would serve as an intriguing addition for them.
No, Will Wade didn't just beat out UNC for a top international center target
The Tar Heels, now under the direction of Michael Malone, essentially had to build a new roster from scratch, as the majority of last season's team either transferred elsewhere or entered the NBA Draft. The frontcourt was heavily impacted, as both Caleb Wilson and Henri Veesaar are NBA-bound, while others (such as Zayden High and James Brown) were depth pieces who elected to transfer to another program.
North Carolina has been linked to a few available big men (either via the transfer portal or through international recruiting), as all signs point to them adding at least one more big man before finalizing the roster for the 2026-2027 season.
