And then there were four.

Top-20 recruit Maximo Adams has narrowed his recruitment down to four schools. As expected, the UNC basketball program made the cut, as they are joined by Kentucky, Michigan State and Texas.

Following his official visit to North Carolina, one in which he moved up a week, the feeling around his recruitment was that the Tar Heels put themselves in a strong position with regard to this particular recruitment. In fact, Adams cancelled his final scheduled visit, one that would have taken him to Durham, solidifying that the Duke Blue Devils were officially out of the mix.

At this point, Adams appears to be the UNC basketball program's top priority within the 2026 recruiting class, as they've seemed to make that very clear to Adams during his recent visit. Now, the interest appears mutual, as we'll have to wait and see if the Tar Heels can seal the deal by adding potentially its first recruit from this given class.

While an official commitment date has yet to be revealed, we could expect Adams to make his final decision over the next couple of weeks. Now that he has visited each of his four finalists, the top-20 ranked recruit will now take some time to figure out the right place for him to begin his college basketball career.

Obviously, Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program hope he decides to take his talents to Chapel Hill once that final decision has been made.
