Following his visit to North Carolina this past weekend, five-star forward Maximo Adams made a big decision regarding his current recruitment.
Instead of heading to Durham for an upcoming official visit, Adams has decided to cancel that trip.

Now, if you read the tea leaves, let's put all the information we know into consideration:
Adams visited North Carolina this weekend, and the trip appeared to be a really good one.
Just days after, Adams decided to forgo his visit to Duke, a sign that the Blue Devils are officially out of the mix.
Sure, it could be a coincidence, but it's most likely an indicator that Adams is closing in on a decision, one that just might've been determined during his recent stop in Chapel Hill.
While the UNC basketball program doesn't appear to be heavily involved in many high school recruitments up to this point, Adams is one of the very few exceptions to the current rule. It feels like North Carolina has made Adams a priority and that the top-25 talent is feeling that love, as a pairing between the two parties might just end up becoming a reality over the next few months.
For now, we can speculate. However, this recruitment seems to be closing in on the finish line, one that the UNC basketball program appears to be at the forefront of as we get down to the wire.
Landing Adams would be a much-needed major splash for the UNC basketball program as they look to add some talent to its 2026 recruiting class.
