Just hours after it was revealed that her husband, Steve Belichick, was resigning as the UNC football program's defensive coordinator, Jen Belichick released a statement that supports her family.

“We are grateful for our time and our opportunity in Chapel Hill, and we are very proud of our influence on the positive direction of the program. Our priority will always be to show up with a healthy and strong mind for ourselves and our 5 children. We are humbled by the relationships that have been fostered here in North Carolina and would like to thank each and every person that has positively impacted our experience.
Unfortunately there is misinformation and speculation about our own situation, but we believe prioritizing health as the most important thing you can do in this life and is invaluable compared to anything else. We strongly encourage anyone in need of support to utilize their resources in order to achieve the best version of themselves.
We will always be Uncle Brian and Pop’s biggest supporters and have no doubt that the UNC defense is prepared to ball out. GO HEELS 🩵.”
As we've all seen, there have been some conflicting reports of what is actually going on with this particular situation. While the university continues to claim that Belichick was on medical leave, some media outlets are reporting that there's more to the story than what North Carolina is letting on.
Grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Tar Heel family, Jen Belichick made it clear that health is the forefront of the decision, citing that the speculation being spread is simply inaccurate.
The fact of the matter is this: Steve Belichick is dealing with some type of illness (which none of us have the right to know more about given its his and his family's personal information). Instead of trying to tear him down with all these accusations, how about everyone band together and send positive vibes his way in hopes of him making a speedy recovery.
You're always going to have that one media outlet who just can't get enough of trying to bring a particular family down. It's sad that hurting people remains at the forefront of operations for some in the media industry.
We're not here claiming the reports aren't true. However, based on what we officially know, this is a medical situation that caused Belichick to resign. At this point in time, the concrete facts matter the most, and it's up to us all to stop the speculation and just move on from the situation.
