Jake Schaffner and Owen Hull officially get a taste of life with the Boston Red Sox

The fact that Jake Schaffner and Owen Hull are going through the process of fulfilling their lifelong dreams together is epic in its own right.

From Chapel Hill to Boston, the former Diamond Heel stars are now beginning their professional baseball careers, having the unique opportunity to have been drafted by the same franchise.

Now that both players have officially agreed to their first professional baseball contracts, the Red Sox organization wasted no time bringing them to Beantown to experience the culture, atmosphere and environment that the historic Fenway Park has to offer.

The MLB dream is feeling more like a reality for a pair of former Tar Heels

On Wednesday, the Red Sox organization brought some of their top picks from this year's MLB Draft class to Fenway Park.

Those players, a group that includes Schaffner (the team's first-round pick) and Hull (the No. 67 overall selection), got the chance to tour the ballpark and experience Boston, getting a glimpse of what their future in professional baseball might just look like.

Schaffner couldn't stop smiling during his visit to Fenway Park, as you'll see in the images below. The former Tar Heel seems thrilled to be a member of the Boston Red Sox, noting in his interview with the media how his host family during his Cape Cod League days are huge Red Sox fans and even took him to a game when he was staying with them.

In his interview with the media (with the video of it below courtesy of Inside Carolina), Schaffner discussed a variety of topics, including just how special his season at North Carolina was to him.

Similar to Schaffner, Hull also seemed thrilled with the team he now represents, noting how cool of an opportunity it is for him to be embarking on this journey with one of his best friends that he developed during his lone season in Chapel Hill.

He also noted how he hopes to soon be making his way to Double-A to play for the Portland Sea Dogs. Of course, he wants to be calling Fenway Park home in the near future, but the proximity of Portland's stadium to his grandmother's house was something he was excited about, given he'll be able to spend more time with her while playing there.

Just listening to both Schaffner and Hull speak, you can tell what great young men they are, a testament to their character. Both are much more than baseball players- they are great human beings as well.

The 2026 college baseball season was an incredible one in Chapel Hill, as both Schaffner and Hull were a huge part of the team's amazing run to the College World Series Championship series. While the Diamond Heels didn't secure that national title they covet, both Schaffner and Hull capitalized on their lone season in Chapel Hill, a year that helped them get to this point in their careers.

Now, the dream of being drafted has now been secured, but the work is far from done. After that little taste of one of the historic ballparks in all of baseball, both former Tar Heels will continue to put in the work to one day make it to the bigs, having the opportunity to play in that stadium on a daily basis.
