The job was far from finished when Indya Nivar heard her name called as part of the 2026 WNBA Draft.
Nivar was selected by the Atlanta Dream with the No. 28 overall pick in this year's draft class, but there's never a guarantee that draft picks actually begin the season with their respective teams.
In typical Indya Nivar fashion, she showcased what she's capable of bringing to an organization, earning a spot on the Dream's opening day roster for the 2026 season.

Nivar will suit up for her first regular-season WNBA game on Saturday night when the Dream take on the Minnesota Lynx. She proved her worth throughout training camp and is now looking to not only stay in the league, but thrive in it.
The Dream's official roster press release sums up what Nivar brings to the table to perfection:
"Nivar's size, athleticism, and defensive intensity earned her a spot on the opening night roster following strong performances throughout training camp."
Courtney Banghart, Nivar's head coach at North Carolina for three seasons, had a great message for her former standout following the news of her making the Dream's roster.

Nivar.
Winners win. And that will always matter.
Congrats on making the @AtlantaDream.
You’re just getting started. Tar Heel nation is behind you all the way!!!
The word "winner" is a fitting way to describe Nivar. Tar Heel fans were first-hand witnesses of watching her little bit of everything during her three years in Chapel Hill, serving as a steady presence who was willing (and able) to do whatever it took to win games. Whatever Courtney Banghart needed her to do, Nivar was up to the challenge, as her type of production might not have always shown in the box score, but it certainly was well on display when she was competing, laying it all out on the line each and every night.
Now, she takes those qualities to the pros, ones that will help her in her pursuit of putting together a long, successful career in the WNBA.
The Dream for Indya Nivar is officially a reality, but there's still plenty of work left to do!
Don't worry- she's more than ready for the challenges ahead!
