History was made at the Dean Smith Center on Tuesday night, as the UNC basketball program captured another undefeated record on their home court.
North Carolina clinches an undefeated record at home with a win over Clemson
This time was different than the other instances, given this group won 18 games in Chapel Hill, topping the previous record of 17 that five prior teams were able to accomplish.

A sign of good things to come?
If history repeats itself, UNC could be on a verge of a deep NCAA Tournament run over the next few weeks.
Seth Trimble makes his stance very clear on the future of the Dean Smith Center
Let's take a trip down memory lane to look at the previous five instances in which the Tar Heels went unbeaten at the Dean Smith Center in a single-season. You'll be very interested to see how they all have something in common:
1986-1987: Elite 8
1992-1992: National Champions
2004-2005: National Champions
2010-2011: Elite 8
2016-2017: National Champions
The common trend revolves around deep playoff runs. Of the five teams that took care of business at home, three of those teams went on to win the national championship.
The other two squads made deep postseason runs as well, making trips to the Elite 8.
Interesting!
There's no place like home
Along with setting a new single-season record with 18 home wins, the Tar Heels have now had 24 (yes, 24!) seasons in which they went unbeaten on their home court. North Carolina now will carry a home winning streak into the 2026-2027 season, as the 18 consecutive victories marks their largest winning streak at home since they won 22 in a row from February 20, 2016 to December 20, 2017.
Let's keep the trend going
Tar Heel fans were fortunate to see plenty of success on Roy Williams Court this season, as this year's team truly embraced playing in front of the home crowd.
Now, the goal is to have history repeat itself, as everyone hopes this year's group has a deep NCAA Tournament run in them, just as the other teams who accomplished this feat did before them.
