His name is Harrison Barnes, and he wants the world to remember that he is a Tar Heel.
Harrison Barnes represents UNC during NBA playoffs
While competing for the San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 NBA Playoffs, Barnes, is showing some love for the University of North Carolina. On his sneakers, you can see a big UNC logo on the tongue of his sneakers, which can be viewed in the photos below.

Competing in his 14th season in the NBA, Barnes isn't as heavily utilized as he was earlier in his career. The 33-year-old is still a leader for a very young (and talented) Spurs team, providing steady contributions when his number is called.
After averaging 25.8 minutes per-game during the regular season, Barnes has only played more than 10 minutes in one of his previous five postseason games. Regardless of his playing time, Barnes is still very much a proven veteran who has a NBA title on his resume, as his prior experience is helping him guide the current wave of talent as they hope to make an appearance in this year's NBA Finals.
Michael Malone and UNC have another transfer big man on their recruiting radar
It's amazing to see guys like Barnes representing their respective college programs. Some guys just get it and remember where they came from, as this tribute from Barnes is one that shows the love and respect he has for the University of North Carolina as a whole.
Tar Heel fans have been fortunate to watch Barnes throughout his successful NBA career, and it's safe to say the veteran forward likely has more in the tank if he elects to continue playing. However, when his career comes to a close, his resume speaks for itself, and there's no doubt that Barnes wants everyone to not only remember him as a great basketball player, but as a Tar Heel as well.
Barnes and the Spurs look to bounce back in game four of the Western Conference Finals, aiming to tie the series up at two games a piece on Sunday night in San Antonio.
