Following the conclusion of the 2025 Chapel Hill Regional, the NCAA revealed the All-Tournament Team, honoring the efforts of the top standouts from this weekend's action.
Of course, the UNC baseball program, the Chapel Hill Regional champions, were well-represented.
A total of five UNC baseball players earned Chapel Hill Regional All-Tournament Team honors, including Gavin Gallaher, the Most Outstanding Player of the regional.
The entire left side of the Diamond Heels infield earned all-tournament honors, as shortstop Alex Madera also earned the individual accolade. Madera recorded five hits during the Chapel Hill Regional, including a three-hit outing in Monday's finals against Oklahoma. He also walked four times throughout the weekend, being a consistent presence on the base paths.
Gallaher was simply unconscious at the plate, going 13 for 18, recording three home runs, two doubles and a triple. He recorded a staggering 10 RBIs over the four-game span, leading the UNC baseball program to a consecutive Super Regional appearance.
Along with playing stellar defense in center field, Kane Kepley was a demon on the base paths (as he's been all season long!). The Tar Heels' center fielder swiped four bases, earning his way on base three times via hits and an addition trio of time courtesy of walks.
While Gallaher gets the spotlight for his efforts, Sam Angelo deserves a lot of praise as well. The former Montclair State standout had a two home run performance against Kyson Witherspoon, one of the country's top starting pitchers, and essentially worked quality at-bats throughout the weekend. His 10-pitch at-bat, which resulted in a walk, was one that showed just how good Angelo is seeing the baseball at the plate.
Of course, you can't have an all-tournament team without an ace, a role Jake Knapp can definitely fulfill. In his lone start of the weekend, the right-hander pitched into the ninth inning against Holy Cross, allowing only four hits and three walks while striking out seven, throwing a career-high 119 pitches. Of those 119 pitches, 83 were strikes, showing just how focused he was on pounding the zone.
The UNC baseball program put together a strong weekend, and the guys who earned Chapel Hill Regional All-Tournament Team honors played a rather large role in their success.
