There are still so many people who are celebrating the fact that North Carolina and Hubert Davis were able to make a statement out on the recruiting trail, landing 5-star guard Dylan Mingo. One of the top players in the country, Mingo can't wait to make plays in Chapel Hill for everyone to enjoy.
Dylan Mingo committing to North Carolina just made way better with new rankings
Off the court, the youngster has wasted no time in winning over the fanbase. How so? This week, shortly after making things official with the Tar Heels, Mingo posted on his social media a special moment of him signing a North Carolina jersey for a young boy. As you can probably guess, the little one must have been overcome with joy that Mingo made this happen for him:

Dylan Mingo committing to North Carolina continues to be celebrated by fans everywhere
Mingo's heart emoji on the photo above tells us that he enjoyed this special moment too. Now, Mr. Mingo, imagine a packed Smith Center with people chanting your name too. He experienced something similar, as UNC fans were recruiting him pre-game during his official visit.
In the end, the elite prospect was down to North Carolina, Baylor, Washinton and Penn State. Baylor was once the favorite to sign him, while Penn State was also getting a serious look because Mingo's older brother currently suits up for the Nittany Lions.
Despite that, Mingo told the crew on ESPN's First Take that the legacy behind the North Carolina brand played a role in his commitment, while seeing the Tar Heels take down Duke also stood out to him and his family.
Come next season, the expectation is that barring a complete and total stunner, freshman sensation Caleb Wilson won't be back, with the 2026 NBA Draft calling. Losing him will sting, but adding a player of Mingo's caliber to the lineup will surely help ease the pain. Expectations will be high for the New York product, but he'll be ready to answer the call for Davis and the Heels as a whole.
