The celebrations in Chapel Hill are still continuing. Yes, the loss to NC State was brutal and the Wolfpack are still talking trash. Well, don't let that make you forget that North Carolina also received the incredible news on Tuesday that Dylan Mingo had committed to the Tar Heels.

The 5-star guard had a final four of UNC, Baylor, Washington and Penn State, but in the end he knew that he wanted to play in the ACC and be a Heel. Mingo joins fellow elite playmaker Maximo Adams as UNC's current 2026 studs.

How could the news of Hubert Davis landing one of the best players in the country get even better? Leave it to the team over at Rivals to put another smile on your face, as the recruiting rankings for '26 have been updated and UNC now has the No. 3 class after getting Mingo on board:

UNC basketball now has Rivals' No. 3 class in the country thanks to Dylan Mingo committing

That's just incredible. As you can see from the graphic above, Duke holds the No. 1 haul in the nation, while Arkansas has fired up to No. 2 after 5-star Jordan Smith committed to the Razorbacks. Despite that, UNC checking in at No. 3 is nothing to sneeze at.

If anything, it indeed has made the Mingo pledge even more exciting for a lot of people. The thought of him and Adams playing together sure has fans fired up, as the future is no question looking bright for Davis and the Heels.

Could even more good recruiting news be on the way soon too? Don't forget that Malloy Smith, Kenny Smith's son, was just offered by the Tar Heels and he's no question on 'commit watch' moving forward. It took a little bit longer than expected, but Davis' 2026 class is starting to take shape in the best way possible.

With Mingo in particular, he's widely viewed as a future NBA standout and there was a point in time when the Heels were on the outside looking in to potentially land his services. Instead, Davis and Co. worked tirelessly to capture his commitment, with things getting over the line this week.
