Asa Montgomery is a five-star talent, but his recruitment isn't as widely discussed as that of others in his graduating class.
You hear a ton about CJ Rosser, DeMarcus Henry, Beckham Black, and others, but Montgomery has earned a spot in that conversation. While the media hasn't hyped him as much as other prospects, college coaches have noticed his talent, and a long list of suitors has lined up to recruit him.
North Carolina is one of those programs.
In fact, many believe Montgomery's recruitment may come down to the rival schools that share Tobacco Road.
Michael Malone and his staff had the opportunity to host Montgomery for an official visit this weekend, one that they hope will help convince him to call Chapel Hill his future home. Like other star recruits in this cycle, Montgomery shared some photos from his visit that will have fans fired up at the possibility of him becoming a Tar Heel.

No one can argue that Montgomery looks good in Carolina Blue!
While we all dream of him being part of Malone's first official recruiting class at North Carolina, Montgomery's stock continues to rise. In fact, Jamie Shaw of Rivals, who has seen Montgomery in action often, believes he is firmly in the mix as the top overall prospect in this recruiting class.

Doesn't Montgomery give you that "Swiss Army Knife" feel, similar to what we saw in Leaky Black during his time in Chapel Hill?
Malone and the Tar Heels have been heavily involved with some of the top recruits in the 2027 class. Most of their top targets have visited campus in recent weeks, giving the program a chance to show recruits what Chapel Hill offers.
While we don't know how these particular recruitments will shape up, considering that anything can happen on the recruiting trail, one thing is for sure: we know Malone and his staff are doing everything they can to bring the best talents to Chapel Hill.
Asa Montgomery is certainly one of those players many hope will eventually become a Tar Heel.
