Leading up to the North Carolina win over Louisville, let's be real here: plenty of Tar Heels haters assumed the home side would drop the ball in a Top 25 showdown against the No. 21 Cardinals. Instead, behind a spirited showing from Seth Trimble, UNC got the job done.

Lessons learned from North Carolina's hard-fought victory over Louisville

Trimble was downright sensational, scoring 30 points in 37 minutes of action. He's getting a ton of national love right now and understandably so. The long list of praise includes some from Dick Vitale, who didn't hesitate in calling Trimble a primetime player for his head-turning performance. You know what, we're going to go ahead and agree with Dickie V here:

Dick Vitale was fired up for the UNC basketball win over Louisville

Oh yeah, fire us up over here, Mr. Vitale. Vitale indeed started his thoughts by calling out Trimble for his brilliant performance. The veteran playmaker was on fire throughout the night with the ball in his hands, connecting on 11-of-16 field-goal attempts.

His performance stood out and it came at the perfect time with Wilson still sidelined due to his hand injury. As for Wilson, Vitale also had some positive words for the 'diaper dandy' as well. That's because Wilson essentially looked like a cheerleader on the bench hyping up his teammates.

Wilson is no question chomping at the bit to get back on the floor, but Hubert Davis and Co. are going to take their time before bringing him back. Wilson said he wants to make sure he's back for the Duke showdown to close out the regular season, but nothing is finalized there.

Soon enough, we should get a better idea on when Wilson will be able to return. Once he does, things are going to be clicking at the highest level possible again for UNC, as this team is hoping to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. That's not going to be easy, but Trimble and Wilson are of course going to be huge pieces of the puzzle in trying to get that accomplished.
