Dick Vitale fires back at ‘wacky’ Hubert Davis haters who want him fired

The legendary broadcaster has had enough of the "fire Hubert Davis" chatter.

Dick Vitale has heard enough!

While it seems like the majority of people are clamoring for a head coaching change at North Carolina, the legendary broadcaster and Hall of Famer tends to see things a bit differently.

"That talk is WACKY!"

Vitale does not believe that Hubert Davis is the problem at North Carolina, as evident by his social media post on Friday.

Joel Berry just said what UNC fans seem to be thinking about Hubert Davis

Vitale went on to call the "fire Hubert Davis" chatter "WACKY," emphasizing the word wacky, as he shared a Google search showcasing Davis' resume in his five years at the helm.

Vitale is simply out-numbered

For someone who has been around the college basketball world for decades, he should be well-aware that the Tar Heels haven't lived up to the elite standard that the program has developed over time.

While Davis' resume would likely be acceptable at other programs, it isn't at North Carolina, a Blue Blood program who has been more of a bubble team than an elite team since he replaced the legendary Roy Williams.

5 realistic head coach candidates UNC should target if the Hubert Davis era ends

For someone who doesn't stop talking about Duke and the job Jon Scheyer has done as the program's head coach, it appears that his standards are much-lower for the team down the road. Sure, he likely is defending Davis as more of a friend (given their paths have definitely crossed over the years), but to say the chatter is wacky is a bold statement that simply just isn't true.

Vitale's social media post doesn't tell the whole tale of how this program went from being a national championship finalist in year one to having little (to no) success in the NCAA Tournament ever since.

That, unfortumately, is NOT Carolina Basketball.
