If you watched any of the NCAA Tournament First Four game between the Texas Longhorns and NC State Wolfpack, you probably heard the trio of commentators discussing the 2026 NBA Draft.
Working together on a game broadcast for the first time ever, Dick Vitale and Charles Barkley talked in-depth about this loaded draft class, one that is heavily filled with star freshmen talent.
The Dean Smith Center rafters are calling as Caleb Wilson earns All-American honors
The pair of Naismith Hall of Famers provided their opinions on what they'd do if they had the No. 1 overall pick, and Barkley said something that Tar Heel fans can certainly agree with.
Put some respect on his name!
While it feels like Caleb Wilson isn't considered by most as a potential option at No. 1 overall, Barkley proved he knows ball with this comment:
"If I had the No. 1 pick in the draft, I might take him (Wilson)."
Joel Berry was as excited as UNC fans over Caleb Wilson headed to the rafters
You constantly hear conversations about the trio of Cameron Boozer, AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson, but Wilson truly deserves to be in the conversation as well. The debate is interesting in itself, given the various pros and cons of each player.
Boozer is the most consistent player of the group, but is he really a NBA franchise altering player or is he more like his father, who was a very good pro during his career?
Dybantsa might just be the most dynamic player of this class, but do teams worry that his shooting doesn't develop to be more consistent over time?
Peterson has the ability to be the best player in this class, but his injury woes this season have to have franchises concerned about his long-term availability.
That leaves you with Wilson, who, like the others, has areas he can improve his game. However, he is an elite talent and is only getting better, as the sky is the limit for just how good he can become.
Front offices looking for an absolute game-changer at the top of the draft, they would be making a major mistake not to at least consider taking Wilson with their pick.
