When it comes to guys who gave their all for North Carolina and who understand what it means to be a Tar Heel, there aren't many better examples than the one and only Joel Berry. He gave his all for the program and he's still following things quite closely.

VCU's coach knows a 'war' is coming against UNC in the NCAA Tournament

That's why it should be no surprise at all that he was beyond fired up when the news came in that Caleb Wilson was named a Second-Team All-American. With that, Wilson's jersey is headed to the rafters in Chapel Hill one day. Yup, Berry loved seeing this, as Wilson truly has meant so much to this team during his short time on campus:

Caleb Wilson is headed to the UNC rafters one day and he deserves it

When was the last time a player made his way to town and completely changed the vibes at UNC? Wilson set numerous North Carolina freshman records and he's looking to be a Top 5 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. He's an incredible talent and a humble young man, which only makes this latest honor even better for him.

The only negative surrounding the 5-star freshman is that barring a complete and total shocker, he'll indeed be off to the NBA instead of returning for one more season. Some fans have hope he will return to college, but it's incredibly difficult to see that happening.

His 2026 March Madness was taken away from him due to multiple injuries. First, Wilson suffered a broken hand and then he broke his thumb, which required surgery. That doesn't take away from how great he was when healthy, averaging 19.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.

Berry has spoken quite highly of Wilson and he's not the only UNC legend to do so. Yes, not having Wilson out on the floor for the Big Dance sucks and it's likely hurting him on the inside too. Still, fans will always be thankful for the incredible memories he provided everyone and his jersey ceremony will surely be an emotional one once it arrives.
