Caden Glauber is not your typical freshman.
In fact, the right-hander isn't even the typical age of a true freshman, having reclassified up a grade to join the Tar Heels a year early!
Even though he's one of the youngest players in the country, it hasn't stopped him from dominating hitters throughout his first collegiate season. First, Glauber earned the ACC Freshman of the Year Award, and now he might be on the verge of adding some national hardware to his already impressive resume.
Caden Glauber named a finalist for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced the list of 14 finalists for the 2026 Stopper of the Year Award, a list that Glauber rightfully earned a spot on.

On a list that features mostly upperclassmen, Glauber serves as one of two freshman to make the cut. Grade level doesn't matter when it comes to Glauber, as his pitching does all the talking.
Mostly as a reliever, Glauber served as Scott Forbes' go-to guy out of the bullpen. In 22 appearances, the right-hander posted a 1.96 ERA over 64.1 innings of work, leading the team in strikeouts (74). While pitching in various roles throughout the season, Glauber showed he can get outs whenever his team needs them, holding opposing hitters to a .181 batting average.
Simply put: Glauber took the mound, not many baserunners were reaching base!
