It's Caden Glauber's world, and we're all just living in it!
Glauber's emergence as a true freshman took the ACC and the country by storm, as the right-hander showed no signs of his grade level every time he took the mound. In recognition of what he was able to accomplish, the Fort Mill, South Carolina native took home a conference award that hasn't been awarded to a Tar Heel in quite some time.
Caden Glauber named the ACC Freshman of the Year
The Atlantic Coast Conference revealed its annual honors for the 2026 season. Glauber's insane season left the voters little doubt as to who should be named the ACC Freshman of the Year.

Glauber is the first Tar Heel to earn the award since Aaron Sabato brought it home to Chapel Hill in 2019. He becomes just the eighth Diamond Heels player overall to win the award and just the second pitcher to earn the honor.
He joins a pretty impressive list of Tar Heels who have previously accomplished this feat!
1997 Brian Roberts
2000 Adam Greenberg
2004 Daniel Bard
2007 Dustin Ackley
2011 Colin Moran
2017 Ashton McGee
2019 Aaron Sabato
2026 Caden Glauber
Mostly as a reliever, Glauber served as Scott Forbes' go-to guy out of the bullpen. In 22 appearances, the right-hander posted a 1.96 ERA over 64.1 innings of work, leading the team in strikeouts (74). While pitching in various roles throughout the season, Glauber showed he can get outs whenever his team needs them, holding opposing hitters to a .181 batting average.
Needless to say: when Glauber took the mound, not many baserunners were reaching base!
What's even crazier about his production is how he wasn't even in the weekend starting rotation. The Diamond Heels have so much pitching depth that they were able to utilize Glauber out of the pen, which served as a huge boost for them especially in tough spots.
Dalton Pence continues to climb the ladder towards the big leagues
With postseason play approaching, you could expect to see a lot of Glauber, who has clearly earned Forbes' trust in whatever role he needs to use him in.
What a special freshman season it's been for Glauber, who has the makings of being a front-line starter moving forward. For this season, the Tar Heels are enjoying the luxury of using him as an elite bullpen arm, as the accolade to earn the ACC Freshman of the Year Award is very much deserved.
Glauber and the Diamond Heels open up ACC Tournament action on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinal round in Charlotte, North Carolina. First-pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM EST.
