While there's still disappointment from the mid-week loss to Miami, it doesn't take away from the fact that UNC took down Duke last weekend in a thriller. It's a win that will hopefully remind the Tar Heels that despite the setback vs. the Canes, this team can compete with anyone when they're at their best.
Caleb Wilson's injury update appears to be good news for UNC and Hubert Davis
However, following that win over the Blue Devils, much has been said about the UNC faithful rushing the court to celebrate in style. Jon Scheyer called out UNC fans and now it's looking like Bill Self has decided to voice his displeasure a bit too?
On Monday night, Kansas stunned the rest of the country by taking down No. 1 Arizona. Right after that win, though, the Kansas fans didn't storm the court and celebrated in the stands. This was something Self took note of, but the timing of his comments sure are interesting...
Bill Self just said this on Hawk Talk when finding out Darryn Peterson wasn’t going to play vs Arizona ‼️‼️

“I told the guys with or without him it’s next man up man… and they actually bought it” 😂😂
Self also added we don’t rush the court in Allen Fieldhouse and that’s what… pic.twitter.com/OZSt94xNJM
No one should care that UNC fans rushed the court after beating Duke
Hey, while we're not going to suggest other teams need to encourage their fanbase to hit the floor after a big-time win - we also don't see the big deal with it. This is something that's been going on for years and it shouldn't stop in the future.
We understand where Scheyer might be coming from, as apparently one of his staff members got 'trampled' and ended up with a bloody lip. The last thing anyone wants to see is someone get hurt due to opposing fans celebrating a monster victory for their favorite team.
Again, we get it. Still, the fact that outsiders continue to rip North Carolina fans for what they did at the Smith Center feels a bit over the top. We're not saying that Self himself is bashing Tar Heels fans or anything, but his comments on Allen Fieldhouse sure has folks talking. Was it a coincidence that it came not long after UNC beat Duke? Maybe, but it sure doesn't feel that way.
