Well, Jon Scheyer's story has changed quite a bit!

Following the loss to North Carolina on Saturday night, Scheyer spoke to the media, acting as if his team was bombarded by an attack of Carolina soldiers. The head coach of the Blue Devils claimed physicality ensued from the court storming that occurred at the Dean Smith Center, making it seem like punches were thrown.

Here is exactly what Scheyer had to say:

"It's hard to talk about the game when I was most concerned just for the safety of our players after the game. I don't want to make it about that because Carolina, they played a great game to win, and that's a heartbreaking loss for our team.

[But] I got staff members that got punched in the face. My family pushing people away, trying to not get trampled. That's not what this game is about. You give them all the credit in the world. It's not about the game, but obviously that was a scary ending — and this rivalry is not about that."

Oh, how the tide turns

On Monday, Scheyer spoke to the media as part of his weekly ACC media conference. In less than 48 hours, the account of what occurred took a drastic turn, indicating that his staff members were NOT punched by any Tar Heels.

"Yeah so, he's fine... He's fine. But after the game, what happened was I came back in the locker room and I see he's got a bloody lip and he's disheveled and he didn't know what happened, he got trampled on the floor.

That was my main concern after the game and that's why I said what I said.

It was not a good situation. But he's doing better, he's fine. Ready to move on. I don't have anything more to say other than that was a very unsafe situation for him, our staff, our families, our players.

I'm a big boy, can take losing. Great college game, Carolina played great. But yeah, he's doing better."

Get the facts straight!

We get it- emotions run extremely high after games like the one between Duke and North Carolina on Saturday night. When you lose that type of game, it hurts even more, especially seeing the opposing crowd storm the court.

Even though the staff member who was injured wasn't revealed, we all truly hope they are okay from the incident. No one should be in that position to be harmed, and don't let the situation (or the opponent) take away from that factual statement.

While we agree with Scheyer that the safety of the players, coaches, and officials remains at the forefront, it's vitally important to get your facts straight before spewing nonsense that makes the UNC fan base look bad.

Getting trampled is a LOT different than getting punched in the face.

Now, what makes it worse is that Scheyer went to the podium, cried wolf, and didn't even have the facts of the matter. North Carolina did everything it could to ensure the safety of those involved, as this is not something the university condones in any which way.

See how one small sentence can change the whole narrative of a given outcome?

Unfortunately for Scheyer, we live in a world where there are cameras everywhere. If someone was punched, there would 100% be video evidence.

Men lie, women lie, the footage doesn't. Hopefully, this will be the last time that Scheyer (who has made this type of thing a common trend in the past) stops with these accusations before learning of all the facts involved.
