Bill Belichick’s shadow keeps UNC from celebrating its former star QB

Can we please stop with the pettiness... this is out of control!

Drake Maye was the star of the night on Sunday, leading the New England Patriots to an upset victory over the previously undefeated Buffalo Bills on primetime.

The former Tar Heel proved to the world that he is a budding star, something that fans in Chapel Hill have known for quite some time now.

Now, if you follow the UNC football social media platforms, it's likely you saw the handful of highlights that featured other former Tar Heels, most notably Javonte Williams. You're probably asking yourself:

Why didn't the UNC football program capitalize on this prime opportunity to highlight the player who serves as its biggest star among the NFL ranks?

No, the social media team wasn't sleeping, it's just Bill Belichick being petty again...

Ross Martin reported that sources within the program confirmed that there was a directive, set forth by Belichick, to not tweet/retweet anything Patriots related.

Is this guy serious?

Not only is the UNC football program the laughing stock of the college football world, Belichick continues to make dumb decisions in his effort to "get back" at his former employer.

For a guy who won six Super Bowl titles as a head coach, you'd think he'd be smarter than this.

Celebrating Drake Maye's success shouldn't even be a question. The UNC football program should be giving him the Shohei Ohtani/MLB treatment with regards to social media, especially given that this year's team absolutely stinks.

At what point is someone going to step in and tell Belichick to cut the nonsense? All his pettiness is doing is hurting the UNC football program, and administration must do something before this completely gets out of hand.

Belichick can have his "beef" with the New England Patriots. This 73-year-old bitter man needs to stop making it affect the Tar Heels, especially their biggest current NFL star who is legitimately the perfect representation of the University of North Carolina as a whole.

Grow up, Bill.
