For countless North Carolina fans right now, all eyes are on Dylan Mingo. However, keep in mind that Hubert Davis and his staff have already reeled in an electric 5-star playmaker for 2026. We're talking about Maximo Adams, who made things official with UNC this past fall.

Adams recently put on a show at the Hoophall Classic, which has the UNC faithful even more excited for him to make the move to campus later this year to start his college career. Well, he went ahead and made things better, not holding back with his explanation to Jamie Shaw on why picking the Heels was a no-brainer for him:

5-star UNC signee Maximo Adams has already dreamed of playing for the Tar Heels
Yup, we love that response from Adams. Throughout his recruitment, the 6-7, 205-pound small forward picked up more than 30 offers, signing with UNC over rides from Kentucky, Michigan State, Kansas, and many others out there.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Adams is ranked five stars, the No. 10 small forward in the country and No. 24 player overall for the '26 class. He's got superstar written all over him and he's going to be ready to ball out as soon as he hits the floor for Hubert Davis.
Will Mingo be joining him in the lineup? That's what everyone is wondering, as the fellow 5-star talent is down to UNC, Baylor, Penn State and Washington. However, recent buzz suggests that this is going to come down to either Baylor or North Carolina.
Previously, Mingo was predicted to sign with Baylor, but things have cooled off there a bit. Has the door been opened for UNC to land him after? That's what people are hoping for, as Mingo and Adams suiting up together next campaign sure would be a ton of fun to watch.
It's totally up in the air if that's going to happen or not, but having Adams on board is already great news for Davis for '26. Caleb Wilson is likely off to the NBA Draft, so replacing his production won't be easy. It's a good thing Adams has dreamed of making plays for the Tar Heels, as his number will be called early and often next season. Time will tell if Mingo will be by his side too.
