So, you're saying there's a chance? That might end up being the case when it comes to 5-star combo guard Dylan Mingo. Not long ago, it seemed like all signs were pointing to the New York product shutting down his recruitment and committing to Baylor.

Not so fast. Not only did Mingo end up pushing back his commitment, but 247Sports has also removed its Crystal Ball pick for the elite playmaker to commit to Baylor. This has surely opened the door for people to believe that maybe Penn State, North Carolina and Washington have a shot after all, right?

UNC basketball fans remain hopeful that Dylan Mingo will pick the Tar Heels

From the outside looking in, this sure seems like Mingo is once again wide open with his recruitment and he's not quite sure where he wants to go. Reports have surfaced of late stating that North Carolina and Davis won't give up in this recruiting race.

Last weekend, assistants Sean May and Marcus Paige - a pair of program legends - were over at the Hoophall Classic to watch Mingo in action. That was probably something Mingo loved seeing, as the Tar Heels have continued to make him a top priority.

According to the 247Sports Composite, the 6-5, 190-pounder is ranked five stars, the No. 2 combo guard in the country and No. 6 prospect overall for the 2026 class. Thus far, 5-star recruit Maximo Adams has committed to Davis, but the hope is more big-time talent will be Chapel Hill-bound as well.

Will Mingo be among those who also ends up signing with North Carolina? That's the main question that so many people have on their minds right now. Recently it had felt like a bit of a long shot, but who knows, maybe that Crystal Ball pick being removed is a hint that UNC could make a serious push late to win this recruiting battle. If that does happen, a parade will probably be thrown on campus.
