Is some breaking news going to come soon for UNC and Michael Malone?

That's what Carolina fans are hoping for, as things have been a bit quiet after Malone and his staff were able to reel in Neoklis Avdalas. However, the Tar Heels have been working overtime on targeting transfer portal playmakers, while Malone hasn't forgotten about Miikka Muurinen either.

New NBA Mock Draft gives Henri Veesaar another reason to stay at UNC

In this piece, we take a look at three recruiting battles UNC is still in on, which could indeed change everything for Malone in his debut UNC season if the Heels can post a win or two.

3. UNC, LSU and Arkansas are going after 5-star Miikka Muurinen

In case you missed it, the Tar Heels are still going after Muurinen, with it being reported that the 5-star forward has been in close contact with North Carolina, Arkansas and LSU. Could the Tar Heels have an advantage here?

Don't forget that Muurinen's mom played for the Tar Heels, while Chuck Martin was Muurinen's lead recruiter for Arkansas. However, Martin has since joined Malone's staff in Chapel Hill. A decision will come soon enough on the '26 prospect, but the Heels indeed are in the hunt.

2. Will Juke Harris pick North Carolina, Tennessee or Michigan?

One of the top transfer targets for the Heels and Malone is no question Juke Harris, the in-state playmaker who just wrapped up a sensational season with Wake Forest. Harris posted more than 20 points per game and he's one of the best shooters still looking for a new home.

Michigan was once the favorite to sign him, but Tennessee and Rick Barnes have been going all-in to get this done. Barnes is eyeing a Final Four and Harris would be a major piece to the puzzle there. UNC won't go down easy, as Malone is still holding out hope he can pull things off.

1. Terrence Brown taking other visits is concerning for UNC fans

Last but not least - what's going to end up happening with Terrence Brown? After his UNC official visit, it looked like the Tar Heels were in the driver's seat. However, Brown just visited Kansas, with Bill Self giving him a ton to think about.

There have been reports that he could also take a visit to Kentucky, but it's unknown whether or not that trip is still going to take place. Kansas might be waiting on Tyran Stokes to make his final call, while UNC isn't making Brown a Plan B. Will Brown keep that in mind? We sure hope so.
