North Carolina Tar Heels: My 2023 Thanksgiving Dinner Invites

As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, site expert Nick Delahanty has some North Carolina Tar Heels that he’d like to invite to this year’s dinner.

The holidays are a perfect time for traditions (new and old), so hey, why not start a bit of a Keeping It Heel tradition?

Last year, I put together a group of North Carolina Tar Heels to invite to Thanksgiving dinner. Although the possibilities are endless, here’s the list of who earned invitations:

-Erin Matson
-Eva Hodgson
-Drake Maye
-Leaky Black

Looking back a year later, that was a pretty strong group of invitees (if I do say so myself)!

There are so many possibilities, which makes the second year of this tradition even more difficult. I could think of dozens of current and former Tar Heels that I’d love to sit down and have a conversation with, and I’m sure you all can, too.

When constructing this year’s list, I ruled out any Tar Heels that attended last year’s festivities (which stinks because Matson could definitely tell us some great stories from her first season as the UNC Field Hockey coach). The goal was to bring in some new faces to not only show gratitude for what they’ve done for the University of North Carolina, but to hear their unique perspectives on life as a Tar Heel.

Without further adieu, here are my 2023 North Carolina Tar Heels Thanksgiving invites.
