The UNC Basketball recruiting Class of 2024 is one of the strongest in recent memory, and two 2024 signees have earned preseason honors, reassuring that.

Just yesterday, the UNC Women’s Basketball program had a future 2024 commit named to the Naismith Girls’ High School Player of the Year Watch List. Now, one day later, the UNC Basketball program joined them with a pair of 2024 signees of their own named to the Naismith Boys’ High School Player of the Year Watch List.

Ian Jackson and Drake Powell, both top ten recruits in the Class of 2024 according to 247Sports, found themselves on the 2023-2024 preseason Naismith Boy’s High School Player of the Year Watch List, which includes the top 50 high school players in the country. Re-solidifying just how good the 2024 Class can be for Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball program.

Jackson and Powell both signed their National Letter of Intent for the UNC Basketball program last week, making their commitment to the Tar Heels official. They are part of a class that currently ranks fifth in the country, according to 247Sports, joining fellow four-star commit James Brown as well.
