Here’s a look at some of the additions that Scott Forbes and the UNC baseball program have added via the transfer portal.
The UNC baseball program took a bit of a hit via the transfer portal, as 10 former Tar Heels have elected to continue their college careers elsewhere.
Although they have a good number of players leaving the program, they have made up for it with the addition of some incoming transfers. In case you’ve been wondering, here’s a list of transfers who have pledged to the UNC baseball program during the offseason:
*Denotes High-Profile Transfer
Eliot Dix
Former School- Longwood
Position- Infielder
Parks Harber*
Former School- Georgia
Position- Corner Infielder
Luke Russo
Former School- Eastern Michigan
Position- Pitcher
*Russo has elected to forgo his final season of eligibility as he was drafted (and signed by) the Philadelphia Phillies organization during the 2023 MLB Draft*
Ryan Fischer
Former School- New Jersey Tech
Position- Pitcher
Shea Sprague*
Former School- Elon
Position- Pitcher
Up to this point, the UNC baseball program will have four transfers joining the program. Russo signing with the Phillies did impact the program’s transfer haul, as the right-hander was expected to compete for a starting spot in the team’s rotation.
However, there are plenty of student-athletes still available in the transfer portal, as it’s possible that Forbes and the Diamond Heels could add even more transfer talent to go along with its highly-rated incoming recruiting class before it’s all said and done this offseason.
