Former UNC basketball guard D’Marco Dunn announced Thursday afternoon that he would join a fellow former Tar Heel at a new school.

UNC basketball guard D’Marco Dunn announced that he would enter the transfer portal during the eleventh hour of the portal deadline on May 11th. Dunn’s recruitment has been relatively quiet since he joined the portal with not a lot of information on who he has been involved with. Now, almost a month later, Dunn has made a decision.

First reported by Jon Rothstein, Dunn will commit to Penn State and join former Tar Heel Puff Johnson.  Dunn entered the portal and UNC basketball fans assumed that Elliot Cadeau would be reclassifying and joining the Class of 2023, which indeed did happen.

Dunn is a former four-star recruit in the Class of 2021. He is the 80th-ranked player in the 2023 transfer portal by On3Sports.

Dunn should have more opportunities for playing time with the Nittany Lions than he would have had in Chapel Hill with a Tar Heel backcourt flooded with talent and bodies. It will certainly be different and will take some getting used to seeing Dunn and Johnson on the same team, just not in Carolina blue.

We wish Dunn the best with his future school and playing alongside former Tar Heel, Puff Johnson.
