A recap of results from the previous week in North Carolina Tar Heels Athletics for the week of April 17, 2023, thru April 23, 2023.

Men’s Basketball – What a week for head coach Hubert Davis and the UNC men’s basketball program!!!

For all the concerns that the fan base had just over eight days ago, it was nice to see some good news over the past few days. Two big commits out of the transfer portal from Cormac Ryan and Harrison Ingram help fill major holes in the roster for next season.

Baseball – Carolina baseball was able to pick up a mid-week win over Charlotte, but unfortunately couldn’t keep that momentum going into the weekend for the series against Boston College.

Men’s Lacrosse – UNC’s losing streak continued this past weekend with a 16-9 loss at Notre Dame. The Tar Heels have now lost three in a row and are 7-6 overall. They will look to avenge the loss at the Irish with a home win against Notre Dame in two weeks on Senior Day.

Women’s Lacrosse –  The Tar Heels finished the regular season off by beating rival Duke 13-12 on the road last week and earning the no. 3 seed in the ACC Tournament. The quarterfinal round will be held on Wednesday, April 26 at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Carolina will face no. 6 seed Clemson at 6:30 PM with the winner advancing to the semifinal round on Friday vs the Syracuse/Virginia Tech winner at 3:30 PM. If the Tar Heels are able to get to the championship game, it will be on Sunday at 12:00 PM. All ACC Tournament games will be televised on the ACC Network.

Men’s Tennis – The Tar Heels were the no. 4 seed in the ACC Tournament last week and faced no. 5 seed Florida State on Friday in the quarterfinal round where they lost 4-2.

Women’s Tennis – The undefeated and no. 1 ranked Tar Heels headed to Cary looking to stay undefeated and win an ACC Championship. Unfortunately, they were unable to do so. Carolina advanced to the championship match on Sunday and faced rival NC State. The Wolfpack got the better of the Tar Heels and won 4-1.

Softball – We haven’t talked about UNC softball much in the past few weeks, but they had a great week on the diamond. First, they beat in-state opponent Campbell by a score of 5-1. Then the Tar Heels went on the road to rival NC State and swept the Wolfpack by scores of 5-4, 4-2, and 5-3. UNC is now 23-25 overall, and 11-9 in the ACC while on a five-game winning streak.
