UNC Football: Drake Maye earns ACC Quarterback of the Week honors
After another strong performance against Virginia Tech, UNC football standout Drake Maye once again earned weekly ACC honors.
UNC football quarterback Drake Maye continues to bring in weekly honors from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
After being named the ACC Rookie of the Week after the team’s Week 4 contest against Notre Dame, Maye followed it up by earning two awards for his Week 5 performance. Along with once again receiving the Rookie of the Week honor, he also took home the conference’s Quarterback of the Week honor as well.
Maye is no stranger to either award, as he has three Rookie of the Week and two Quarterback of the Week throughout the early part of the 2022 season.
In the Tar Heels’ convincing 41-10 victory over Virginia Tech, Maye accounted for 436 yards of total offense. He accumulated 363 yards and three scores through the air while adding 73 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
The Huntersville, North Carolina native has been incredible since taking over as the team’s signal-caller, as he’s put himself into the mix to be considered one of the top quarterbacks in the entire country. He came in with big shoes to fill, as Sam Howell departed for the NFL, but Maye has shown that he is more than capable and ready to take over the reins.
Maye and the UNC football program return to the field on Saturday afternoon, as they’ll take on Miami at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.
