UNC Football Recruiting target Paul Billups is set to make his commitment decision on August 24. Do the Tar Heels have an edge in his recruitment?

Paul Billups, a three-star Class of 2023 wide receiver, has been on the UNC football recruiting team’s radar for some time now.

The Chesapeake, Virginia native attended a North Carolina camp on June 17, 2021, and four days later, an offer was extended from Mack Brown and his staff.

As his recruitment is coming towards the finish line, do the Tar Heels have an advantage as we come down the final stretch?

The first 247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction for Billups was placed on August 5, as the site’s director of recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, has tabbed the UNC football program as his pick to land the Western Branch High School standout. On the “confidence scale,” Wiltfong rates his prediction as a 6, placing it in the medium confidence category.

Based on his past success, this should be considered a good sign for North Carolina. Overall, Wiltfong has a 91.5 percent accuracy rate and has been correct on 298 of his 306 total predictions for the Class of 2023.

With two wide receivers already committed to this respective recruiting class, adding Billups would simply continue to add to the stockpile of depth that the program is putting together. His commitment would also likely move the Tar Heels back up the Class of 2023 ranks, as the recent loss of three-star Zachary Tobe did not help their goal of moving up the list.

At the moment, 247Sports tabs the UNC football recruiting team as having the No. 26 ranked recruiting class. Mack Brown and his staff are hopeful that more talented players will make their way to Chapel Hill as part of this class, which already features 14 student-athletes.
