The UNC basketball recruiting team remains busy with the Class of 2024, as they’ve extended an offer to five-star guard Boogie Fland.

Over the last few years, there’s been a connection between the UNC basketball recruiting team and Archbishop Stepinac High School.

The New York-based high school is the former home of current UNC basketball standout R.J. Davis. Could another top prospect from this school follow Davis’ lead to Chapel Hill?

According to Andrew Slater, the Tar Heels have officially extended an offer to current Archbishop Stepinac five-star guard Johnuel “Boogie” Fland.

Currently, Fland ranks as the No. 13 overall prospect in the Class of 2024, according to 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot-3 point guard is also viewed as the second-best player coming out of the state of New York.

Fland becomes the seventh prospect from the Class of 2024 to receive an offer from the Tar Heels, who have shown a trend of interest in tri-state area prospects. Prior to extending an offer to Fland, North Carolina offered fellow five-star guard Elliot Cadeau (formerly of Bergen Catholic in New Jersey), as well as Ian Jackson, the only player ranked above Fland in the state of New York rankings.

It’s still early in the process for this recruiting class, but the Tar Heels would love to start adding some top talents to their incoming group. The program is hopeful that Fland will continue the trend of Archbishop Stepinac guards making their way to join the UNC basketball program.
