The preseason recognition continues to roll in for UNC football standout Josh Downs, as he’s been named to a very impressive preseason watch list.

A few days ago, Sporting News named UNC football standout Josh Downs a preseason All-American.

As the 2022 college football season approaches, more recognition continues to roll in for the rising junior, as the Suwanee, Georgia native has been added to a very notable preseason watch list.

On Monday, the Maxwell Football Club released its preseason watch list for one of college football’s most prestigious awards. It annually is presented to the student-athlete who is considered to be the best all-around player in the nation. In the past, many Maxwell Award recipients have gone on to win the Heisman Trophy as well.

Heading into his junior season, not only is Downs considered one of (if not the) best wide receiver in the entire ACC, but ranks among the top players at his position in the entire country. Although it’s uncertain as to who will be under center for the UNC football program, it’s definitely assuring to know that they’ll have a top-tier weapon like Downs to work with.

Downs burst onto the season in 2021 but isn’t going to surprise anyone during the 2022 campaign. It’s certain that opposing defenses will make it a focal point to at least slow him down when they take on the Tar Heels this season.
