What prospects caught the attention of the UNC basketball recruiting team during Day 2 of the Kansas City Nike EYBL session?

After a busy first day at the Kansas City Nike EYBL session on Thursday, college coaches were back at it to scout the nation’s top talent throughout the day on Friday.

On day one, Hubert Davis and his staff took some time to watch two of the program’s future commits in action. During the second day of the event, the focus seemed to be on other recruits that they could have interest in over the next couple of months.

Here’s some of the latest information regarding some of the players that the Tar Heels closely kept an eye on:

-Similar to Thursday, North Carolina had three coaches on hand, including Davis, to watch four-star 2024 forward Isaiah Evans. The Huntersville, North Carolina native is rated by 247Sports as the No. 3 overall player in his state, and the No. 20 overall prospect in his graduating class. At this point, an official offer has not been extended to Evans, but that could very well change in the near future.

– Assistant coach Sean May was on hand to watch Hillcrest Prep standout Jason Asemota compete. The No. 2 rated player in Arizona (according to 247Sports) had coaches from multiple schools come out to watch him, including Kentucky and Rutgers.

– Davis watched 2024 point guard Daniel Freitag put on an absolute show, as he displayed his ability to impact the game in various ways.

Overall, Freitag nearly posted a triple-double, as he scored 30 points and added 9 rebounds and seven assists in his team’s victory. He went to the free-throw line 18 times and knocked down all of his attempts from the charity strike.

Although Freitag isn’t currently ranked by 247Sports, that could change rather quickly if he continues to perform at a high level.

Events like this serve as a good way to really see what prospects catch the attention of coaches from respective college programs. For the UNC basketball program, we’ve gotten a little more insight on who they may end up targeting and will likely get more information as the event continues this weekend.
