One 247Sports college basketball analyst believes that there is now a “favorite” to land UNC basketball transfer Kerwin Walton.

Last week, UNC basketball transfer Kerwin Walton announced that he is officially down to five schools in his recruitment. Clemson, Kansas State, Memphis, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech were narrowed down as the final schools that Walton is considering.

Is there a current “favorite” to land Walton? A notable 247Sports basketball analyst seems to think so.

On Friday morning, Travis Branham gave a Crystal Ball prediction for Walton, as he believes the former Tar Heel is heading to the Big 12.

According to Branham, Texas Tech seems to have an upper edge on Walton’s recruitment, which correlates with the recent speculation on the matter.

After a solid freshman season at North Carolina, things simply took a turn for the worst for Walton during his sophomore campaign. He went from a player who Roy Williams couldn’t take off the floor due to his three-point shooting ability to a player whom Hubert Davis couldn’t find time for, given his one-dimensional skill set and below-average defensive skills.

Wherever Walton lands, he’ll look to bounce back to the form we saw during his freshman season in Chapel Hill. Given his above-average shooting ability, Walton is certainly a guy who can come in and make an impact for any of these programs right away, as he’s spent the offseason receiving feedback from NBA scouts and executives on ways to improve his game.

Seeing his work ethic first-hand at North Carolina (citing the countless games in which he was back in the gym shooting just shortly after the game concluded), it’s safe to believe that Walton will do everything in his power to become an important player for whichever program he ultimately chooses.

Next. Hubert Davis makes a notable trip. dark
