UNC Basketball Recruiting: Sean May watches 2024 five-star
In UNC basketball recruiting news, assistant coach Sean May was on hand to watch a 5-star standout from the Class of 2024.
Some of the country’s top high school basketball talent is on display in Indianapolis as part of a Nike AAU event.
These types of events allow programs across the country the opportunity to watch some of the best prospects live in action against some prime competition. This is no different for the UNC basketball recruiting team, as they already have started watching some of the players that have their interest.
Along with watching G.G. Jackson, the UNC basketball program also made some time for other prospects. One of those players is 2024 5-star Jason Asemota, who simply put on a show in front of Tar Heels assistant coach Sean May.
For the Utah Syndicate, Asemota scored 36 points on an astounding 14-19 from the field. The Phoenix, Arizona native showcased why he has been quickly rising up the recruiting ranks as of late.
With performances like the one he put together on Friday, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that more top-tier programs are showing interest in the 6-foot-8 forward. After he earned MVP honors at the Underclassmen All-American game on March 27, Asemota started drawing more attention, and should certainly continue that trend if he keeps thriving as he’s been at recent events.
As the UNC basketball recruiting team has put an emphasis on his recruitment, Asemota recently discussed the Tar Heels when he was asked about his early commitment. Based on what he’s looking for in a program, you’d have to think that the UNC basketball program should be one of the heavy contenders in the mix.
Given he’s only a sophomore, Asemota has plenty of time to let his recruitment process settle in. However, the Tar Heels have been and should continue to be, one of the programs that will put an emphasis on trying to land a commitment from the talented forward down the road.
