Another UNC basketball player has entered the transfer portal, as Anthony Harris will look to play elsewhere next season.

It’s been a busy day for the UNC basketball program.

First, Dawson Garcia announced that he has entered the transfer portal, which wasn’t a surprise given how the sophomore transfer left the team mid-way through the 2021-2022 season.

The news got a lot better for the Tar Heels a little while later, as Armando Bacot announced that he will return for his senior season in Chapel Hill.

With players now having more than a week to decide their futures, the decisions are quickly coming in, as Anthony Harris made his intentions known on Wednesday afternoon.

Harris announced that he will be entering the transfer portal. The red-shirt sophomore will look for a clean start after a rough three seasons in Chapel Hill.

The Woodbridge, Virginia native dealt with major injuries in each of his first two seasons on campus and was starting to become a steady contributor off the bench in Hubert Davis’ first season at the helm. Harris was averaging 2.6 points in just under 12 minutes per contest.

Unfortunately, his season was once again cut short, this time due to “undisclosed reasons.” Harris was limited to just 14 games this season and was a bystander as his team made a deep postseason run in the NCAA Tournament.

Davis and the University did not provide specifics on Harris’ situation, as we’ve seen how North Carolina isn’t one to release personal information regarding their student-athletes. However, his being unavailable made it seem as if his future with the program was in doubt.

Harris has a ton of potential and will look for a fresh start with another program. For the Tar Heels, they will look to their incoming freshman and possibly the transfer portal to help fill Harris’ anticipated role off the bench.
