In big UNC basketball news, Armando Bacot has announced that he will return for his senior season.

After a historic junior season for the UNC basketball program, many wondered whether Armando Bacot would return to the UNC basketball program or elect to pursue professional opportunities.

On Wednesday, Bacot announced his decision, one that Tar Heels fans will certainly be excited about.

In the above video post, Bacot announced that he will return to North Carolina for his senior season. This is major news for the UNC basketball program, as they’ll return one of the best big men in the entire country.

With the way that the 2021-2022 season ended, it seemed as if there was some unfinished business for this team, especially the core group that still has eligibility remaining. Since the season ended, there has been speculation that Bacot, along with the likes of Caleb Love, Leaky Black and R.J. Davis, would stay in an attempt to redeem their national championship game loss.

Bacot is coming off a season in which he led the country with 31 double-double performances. He will once again look to anchor a Tar Heels team that will have high expectations heading into next season.

Although the Tar Heels lost Dawson Garcia via the transfer portal, Bacot’s decision could have a positive spiraling effect on the rest of next year’s roster.

We’ll have to wait and see what the other Tar Heels decide to do, but it’s very possible that they may follow Bacot’s path back to Chapel Hill for yet another go-around.

Needless to say, this is a tremendous start to the UNC basketball program’s offseason.
