UNC Wrestling earns big commitment from New Jersey standout
The UNC wrestling program earned a huge commitment from one of New Jersey’s top wrestlers.
It’s been a rather successful 24 hours for the North Carolina Athletics department.
After the UNC women’s basketball program hauled in a huge prospect from the Class of 2023, the school’s wrestling program followed it up with a major commitment of their own.
On his Instagram account, Nick Fea, a senior wrestler from Bergen Catholic in New Jersey, announced his commitment to the UNC wrestling program. In the latest Flo Wrestling rankings, Fea is listed as the No. 14 overall wrestler in the 160-pound weight class.
Fea comes to Chapel Hill with a very impressive high school wrestling resume. He began his career at Wyoming Seminary Upper School in Kingston, Pennsylvania, where he was a three-time state champion.
After moving to Middletown, New York, Fea decided to attend Bergen Catholic in Oradell, New Jersey for his senior season. He played a major role in helping the Crusaders, who are ranked among the country’s top wrestling programs, win the NJSIAA North Jersey, Non-Public Group A state championship.
This past weekend Fea, along with Bergen Catholic teammate AJ Fricchione, were on campus in Chapel Hill for an official visit. The visit must have made an impact on Fea, as the standout wrestler didn’t waste any time making his commitment decision.
With Fea now in the mix, could he guide Fricchione, a current high school junior, to make his way to Chapel Hill as well?
Based on North Carolina’s recent recruiting success, it must certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see the duo team up once again at the next level.
