UNC Basketball losing ground in G.G. Jackson Crystal Ball
Could the UNC basketball program be losing ground in their pursuit of G.G. Jackson? The latest Crystal Ball prediction seems to think so.
There have been a ton of recent developments regarding Gregory “G.G.” Jackson’s recruitment over the last couple of days.
First, Jackson announced that he would make his final decision in “two to three weeks.” Just a day later, Jackson narrowed his list down to his final six options, which did include the UNC basketball program.
Now, there are reports that Jackson and his family are considering having the five-star forward reclass into the Class of 2022. Needless to say, there is a lot of information swirling around this very coveted high school prospect.
Early on, it seemed as if the Tar Heels had an advantage in the Jackson sweepstakes. However, the current tide may be trending against North Carolina landing a commitment from Jackson.
Jackson picked up a new 247 Sports Crystal Ball prediction, and it is not directed in the Tar Heels’ favor. R. Cory Smith predicted that Jackson will commit to South Carolina, and gave it a six on the confidence scale.
Let’s keep in mind that Smith is an NC State insider for PackPride.com. Nothing against Smith, who most recently predicted that Dontrez Styles and Puff Johnson would commit to the UNC basketball program, but we’ll have to wait and see if more big-name analysts start to make predictions that coincide with Smith’s latest notion.
Ultimately, Jackson’s decision will be impacted by which class he decides to be a part of. If he remains in the Class of 2023, the UNC basketball should still have a good chance to land his services. If he moves to this year’s class, there’s a more likely chance that he signs with South Carolina or makes his way over to the NBA G-League.
