It’s been an exciting 24 hours for Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball program, highlighted by the commitment of transfer Dawson Garcia on Thursday afternoon. In addition to that, the Tar Heels also picked up a crystal ball prediction for a five-star center AND will likely get a visit from a five-star guard.

With the live evaluation period beginning on Thursday, UNC will be out in full force at multiple events through the month of July. And one prospect they have their eyes on is four-star small forward Cam Whitmore.

The 6-foot-6, 200-pound Maryland native is an intriguing recruit in the 2022 class and recently picked up an offer from North Carolina. But now we know exactly who UNC’s competition in this recruitment is as the prospect made a big update to his recruitment.

Whitmore cut his list of 19 offers down to 10 schools, including the Tar Heels on his list:

Joining UNC on the list of 10 for Whitmore is Maryland, Georgetown, Miami, Illinois, Notre Dame, Louisville, Florida and Penn State. He’s only taken one official visit so far as he went to Maryland on June 4th. The Terrapins might be considered the frontrunner but there is still a long ways to go in this recruitment and UNC could be a major player down the stretch.

Whitmore is ranked No. 55 overall, the No. 15 small forward and the No. 2 player in the state of Maryland per the 247Sports composite rankings. With his list trimmed to 10, Whitmore will focus on these teams and we will likely see more visits down the line for him before this recruitment is officially over. He’s a prospect we will continue to monitor over the coming months.
