With the live evaluation period beginning on Thursday, the next few weeks will be a busy one for Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball program.

Earlier this week, Davis and the Tar Heels officially entered the race for five-star combo guard Zion Cruz, offering him following a phone call on Tuesday evening. The talented guard out of New Jersey is a rising prospect in the 2022 class and will have a lot of attention on him in the coming months.

Just a few days after Cruz announced that he received an offer from North Carolina, it appears as if he’s ready to set up some visits, including one to the Tar Heels. Per Adam Zagoria of Zag’s Blog, Cruz is working on a visit to Chapel Hill per his father:

That’s great news for the Tar Heels, a team that just entered the race for Cruz. It shows that he is seriously interested in the program and with UNC’s class starting to fill up, he may want to move fast on a visit and a potential decision down the line.

Cruz is a 6-foot-5, 175-pound guard out of Hillside, New Jersey that is ranked No. 20 nationally, No. 3 shooting guard and No. 1 player in the state of New Jersey per the 247Sports composite rankings.  He has a total of 20 offers in his recruitment with Oregon, Alabama, Arizona State, and Auburn among others showing interest with UNC.

Currently, the Tar Heels have two commitments in the 2022 class with four-star guard Seth Trimble and three-star center Will Shaver. They are in the running for a few more prospects including Cruz and would love to add two more for this 2022 class including depth at the guard spot.
