As they recapped the month of June on the recruiting trail, Rivals gave the UNC football program some high praise for their recent efforts.

The month of June was a very busy month in regards to college football recruiting.

For the first time since the COVID-19 virus broke out, prospects from around the country have had the ability to meet with coaches and make official visits, as well as attend camps and other functions to help them ultimately decide where they would like to play their collegiate career.

It’s never too early for prospects from the class of 2022 to start committing, and the UNC football program has most certainly been in the mix for some highly-touted student athletes. In fact, Rivals National Recruiting Director Adam Gorney had some high praise for what Mack Brown and company were able to accomplish this past month.

"“Mack Brown continues to do an amazing job with the Tar Heels. They beat out Michigan and others for four-star defensive end Beau Atkinson, who could be really special in Chapel Hill. Three-star additions Deuce Caldwell and Justin Kanyak are nice players as well. But the best might still be to come. If North Carolina can convince five-star offensive tackle Zach Rice and five-star defensive tackle Travis Shaw to join the class, that would be an absolute game-changer.”"

Gorney listed the Tar Heels as one of his “teams of the month” in recruiting for the past month of action. As Gorney noted, North Carolina earned commitments from four-star defensive end Beau Atkinson, as well as Deuce Caldwell and Justin Kanyak, both of whom are three-star athletes. On the final day of the month, the Tar Heels also gained a commitment from cornerback prospect Marcus Allen.

Additionally, the UNC football program is very much in the mix for some top prospects, including five-star offensive lineman Zach Rice, and five-star defensive lineman Travis Shaw.

The Tar Heels put together an impressive month of June, and it doesn’t appear as if they are ready to slow down anytime soon. If they can land some of the players that they’ve been recruiting, Mack Brown and company will continue to make a ton of noise on the recruiting trail moving forward.
