Hubert Davis and his UNC Basketball staff are off to a good start in the 2022 recruiting class, landing commitments from Seth Trimble and Will Shaver in the month of June.

With the NCAA lifting restrictions in terms of travel, it’s allowed recruits to take visits and both players opted to commit following their visits to Chapel Hill. Shaver was the first to commit, doing so in early June and then was followed up by Trimble in late June.

Davis and the staff want to build on this two-man class and have plenty of targets left to do so with. But on Wednesday, both Shaver and Trimble received a boost in their ranking which should help UNC’s class overall.

In the latest 247Sports recruiting rankings update on Wednesday, Trimble climbed 56 spots from No. 101 to No. 45 overall. That’s one of the biggest moves overall in this 2022 recruiting class among the prospects.

Shaver went from being not rated on some outlets and climbed from No. 161 to No. 109 on 247Sports. Another big move as he sits just outside the top 100 for the three-star recruit out of Alabama.

Neither recruit earned an extra star as Trimble still has four and Shaver has three but both made significant jumps in the rankings. The bump also means UNC’s class jumps in the team rankings too. They have moved all the way up to No. 6 overall and No. 2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, soaring up the rankings. The only team ahead of UNC is Syracuse, a program that also has two commitments including UNC target Justin Taylor who committed last weekend.

There is still a long ways to go in this 2022 cycle and UNC does still have a few targets left in the class including Dereck Lively II (No. 3), Zion Cruz (No. 18), Jaden Bradley (No. 24), Cam Whitmore (No. 30), Isaac Traudt (No. 54), Tyler Nickel (No. 80), and De’Ante Green (No. 95).
