With the start of the 2020-2021 college basketball season just under a month away, we’re starting to get some information regarding the UNC basketball schedule.

No, we do not yet have an official schedule yet for the UNC basketball program. However, we have received some information regarding two of the Tar Heels’ regular season contests.

With regards to the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, Roy Williams’ squad will match-up with Iowa. This contest will serve as a battle of the bigs, as Garrison Brooks and company will be challenged by Iowa’s Luke Garza, an All-American from a year ago, and the prohibitive favorite for this season’s Player of the Year.

Along with the information regarding the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, we also found out who the Tar Heels will battle in the CBS Sports Classic this winter.

The Tar Heels are scheduled to battle Ohio State in this year’s CBS Sports Classic. The event will take place at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio, and this matchup will be the first game of the day. Tip-off for the contest is scheduled for 2:00 PM, and will be aired on CBS.

At this time, it is unknown whether or not fans will be allowed in attendance. An official decision on spectators is expected to be made closer to the date of the event.

Since its inception in 2014, the same four schools have taken part in the event. Along with the Tar Heels, Ohio State, UCLA and Kentucky have all competed in the event on a yearly basis. Overall, the Tar Heels are 4-2 in the CBS Sports Classic, which is currently the best record of the four teams that have competed. The Tar Heels were victorious in both previous head-to-head matchups with the Buckeyes in this event (2014 and 2017).

With all four teams expected to be ranked heading into the 2020-2021 season, the competition should be really good. This battle could definitely serve as a terrific early season test for this new-look Tar Heels squad.
