The former UNC basketball standout makes Suns history as he continues to thrive as a three-point shooter.

With regards to the “NBA Bubble,” the Phoenix Suns are by far the hottest team in the league. Since entering the bubble, they are a league-best 5-0. They have strung together some impressive wins against the Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers.

Devin Booker gets a lot of the attention, as he’s played lights out, but a former Tar Heel has been very impressive, too.

As the season was restarted, Cameron Johnson was inserted into the Suns’ starting lineup. Since earning a starting role, Johnson has thrived. We discussed his recent double-double performance in the Suns’ win against the Pacers. He followed up that performance with 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting to help lead them to another victory over the Heat.

Along with his impressive shooting numbers against the Heat, the 24-year-old made Phoenix Suns history on Sunday.

With his two three-point field goals, Johnson became the fastest Suns player to reach 100 career three-pointers. The sharp-shooting forward was able to accomplish the feat in just 54 games, passing Wesley Person (72 games) for the franchise record.

From his time at Chapel Hill, we all got to witness first-hand just how great of a shooter Johnson is. As he continues to grow and develop at the NBA level, expect to see a lot more three-point field goals made by the former Tar Heel.
